Actors, dancers and singers aged 10-18 yrs were given the incredible opportunity to audition for TB Arts’ Adelaide Fringe 2017 production, ‘Singin’ In The Rain JR’. We are excited to announce that our cast has been chosen, and rehearsals will start in November!
“TB Arts” is a newly established branch of the widely recognised performing arts school, Theatre Bugs, which opened in 1998. “TB Arts” produces high quality stage productions, specialised workshops, weekly classes and casting opportunities for young Adelaide artists.
The Adelaide Fringe is the world’s second-largest annual arts festival and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. For one month, the Fringe features hundreds of artists from around the world in a multitude of venues across Adelaide. Being actively involved as an artist in the Fringe is to be part of something very unique and special to South Australia. We hope you will share this magical time with us!
The Show – ‘Singin’ In The Rain JR’
Our production of ‘Singin’ In the Rain JR’ will be directed by Michelle Davy and choreographed by Zak Vasiliou. In addition to showcasing some of Adelaide’s best young talent, the show will feature stunning costumes by Sue Winston, amazing projections, ‘silent movies’ (starring the cast!) and a professional sound and lighting set up.
‘Singin’ In The Rain JR’ has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes, things are not as they appear on the big screen. Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.
Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, fast paced tap numbers, a multitude of speaking/singing roles and a hit-parade of Hollywood standards make this splashy adaptation an extraordinary opportunity for talented young performers.
