The big appeal of this class is that students can learn dance, acting and singing in just one class per week.
The Senior Musical Theatre (previously known as Combo 4) students continue their learning of dance (co-ordination, technique, jazz/contemporary routines), singing (pitch, projection, rhythm) and acting (characterisation, mime, voice projection, script interpretation, Stanislavsky method, acting for film/TV).
In term 2 the Senior Musical Theatre students perform within their regular class time at the regular venue, sometime in the final 2 weeks of term. In term 4, the Senior Musical Theatre students perform in a production involving many other classes from Theatre Bugs. In the past, the students have performed popular shows such as ‘Aussie Grease’, ‘The Secret Garden’, ‘Step Back In Time’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Snow White’. Each child is given an individual character part and has song/dance routines to learn. The End of Year Production is a great opportunity for the students to perform in a theatre with professional sets, lights, microphones and amazing costumes. Students are required to attend a couple of extra rehearsals in term 4 to prepare for the production.
